Autism Spectrum Disorders are increasingly known in developing countries like Bangladesh. The children with autism exhibit significant deficits in social communication, including delayed language development and imitation skills. This disorder is different from other disorders and its characteristics and functions are also different. Families having children with autism spectrum disorder play important role in their socialization and face many challenges as the disorder is associated with disruptive antisocial behavior. The main objective of this research is to know the role of family in socializing autistic children. This research was conducted though survey method by using a semi-structured questionnaire. The data of this study was collected from 78 parents having children with autism spectrum disorder. In our country autism newly introduced and research on autism especially role of the family of the autistic children in socialization are very few. So, this study discusses the role of family in socializing autistic children

Internal migration and the condition of female construction workers: a study in Chittagong city

Women workers are found in certain activities traditionally falling within the male domain. This is particularly the case for landless women who largely belong to the hardcore poor group. It indicates growing economic pressure and erosion of familial support and traditional beliefs and norms regarding women's outside work. With the Bangladesh economy’s heavy dependence on imports Chittagong has traditionally played a very important role in the trading sectors and industrial centre of the country and also commercial capital of Bangladesh which is going through a massive phase of construction of new structures. The study employed triangulation method as a research strategy. The objective of the study is to know the reasons of internal migrations and conditions of female construction workers of Chittagong city. A good number of rural women are involved at urban construction work in Chittagong city where they faces different harmful condition like as long working hour, less salary, lack of women rights, sexual harassment, food expenditure, low health condition, hard working etc. From this rational discussion this papers examine internal migration and the condition of migrant female construction works in Chittagong city

Displacement and deplorable living conditions of slum dwellers: with special reference to Sylhet city

Environmental displacement has already become extreme in geographically and environmentally vulnerable areas in Bangladesh. Thus, climate induced migration to big cities is getting spontaneous over the last few decades. Increasing numbers of slums represent a major challenge to development. Displaced people living in urban slums are in search of better and secure life. But urban slums located mostly in low lying environmentally hazardous area coupled with inadequate facilities like food, shelter, sanitation, high rates of malnutrition, density of population, communicable diseases, exposure to violence, health care make their life even worse. In other words it refers to informal areas suffering from problems of accessibility, narrow streets, the absence of vacant land and open spaces, very high residential densities, insufficient infrastructure and services. The study is fully based on primary data that followed stratified sampling method with triangulation research design and reviewing some related literatures from past research reports. This paper examines that exploration of living conditions of slum dwellers, it is seen that the sketch of their social life is very different, deplorable, unorganized, poor health status, using different kinds of family planning methods, lack of proper water supply and sanitation, low income group with inadequate education, leading unhealthy environment, to enhanced poverty, under nutrition of Bangladeshi's inhabitants those are engaged in various sectors of economical activities. Their present scenario of social life is very pathetic and miserable because of having been deprived from education, employment and other basic facilities of human life and as a result they are being regarded as a reluctant Dwellers. They are far from touch of modernization, fully separated and alienated from the mainstream of society

The present study was aimed to investigate the causes of COVID-19 worry and its effect on initial behaviors that observed in early stage of the COVID-19 outbreak in Bangladesh. In the online survey, participants’ were asked about normative concerns, COVID-19 worry, initial behaviors, and the neuroticism personality trait. Results of the study demonstrated that (i) higher normative concerns and neurotic trait were predictors of higher COVID-19 worry; and (ii) higher normative concerns and COVID-19 worry significant predictors of buying preparatory materials, higher worry for postponing travel plan, and higher worry and neuroticism for purchasing daily commodities more than usual and difficulties in concentration

Systematic review of disruptive innovation (DI) research in agriculture and future direction of research

    No full text
This systematic review aimed to display the trajectory of research on the chosen topics, conduct a methodical analysis of the relevant literature by evaluating the journal parameters, and suggest potential avenues for research on disruptive innovation (DI) in agriculture. A systematic literature review (SLR) method was used to conduct the review research. A total number of 61 articles on DI in agriculture were reviewed. The PRISMA flowchart completed the overall process to confirm the final selection of the review. The review outcomes provided that most DI in agriculture research was based on food supply, technology adoption, digital risk management, and agriculture modernization from the evidence of some selected developed and developing countries. Only a few DI research were found from the evidence of transition economies. However, the review found a lack of research on the government's inclusion of DI in agriculture. More investigations are required for the sub-sector of the agriculture industry for the actual development of the overall agriculture industry. So far, the researchers' knowledge; the review is possibly the very first attempt by any researchers to work on SLR research regarding DI in agriculture. This paper contributes to agriculture, a vital process in the marketplace that currently lacks a strong foundation of innovation theory in this sector. This paper broadens the understanding of this subject by comprehensively analyzing this study area

The impact of technology service quality on Bangladeshi banking consumers' satisfaction during the pandemic situation: Green development and innovation perspective in banking service

    No full text
The present study examined the anticipated technology service quality of private commercial banks in Bangladesh, with a particular emphasis on the satisfaction of e-consumers regarding the banking technologies and services offered by their respective banks. Three hundred fifty-five data were administered using a structural equation modeling technique to examine the hypothesis. The results indicated three technology service quality dimensions exhibited a positive and statistically significant relationship with consumers' satisfaction with banking services. The remaining two dimensions (Responsiveness and Empathy) displayed a negative but significant association. In the context of technology service quality and technology satisfaction, it was observed that all factors except ‘Reliability,’ ‘Responsiveness,’ and ‘Empathy’ exhibited a statistically significant positive association with technology service quality during the pandemic situation. This research provides a new perspective for countries sensitive to and committed to enhancing their green development in banking strategies by embracing technological advancements, particularly during challenging circumstances like a pandemic

Chitosan Coating Improves Postharvest Shelf-Life of Mango (<i>Mangifera indica</i> L.)

    No full text
Mango is an extremely perishable fruit with a short postharvest time, and a considerable proportion of harvested mangoes become spoiled due to the postharvest decay in mango-producing areas of the world. The current study was designed to evaluate the effects of chitosan on the storage life of mango. Mango samples were coated with 750, 1000, and 1500 ppm chitosan solution, before storing them in the open or zip-bags under ambient and refrigeration conditions for different storage periods. Changes in different physical and chemical parameters were recorded to evaluate the treatments’ effectiveness in extending fruit shelf-life and sustaining postharvest quality of mangoes. The results showed that chitosan coating was able to reduce weight loss up to 65% in comparison to the uncoated control. Total mold and bacterial counts were also significantly lower in postharvest mangos when they were coated with chitosan compared to the uncoated samples. In addition, different fruit quality attributes, such as vitamin C content, titratable acidity, sugar content, ash, and protein content were also retained to a considerable extent by the chitosan coatings. Chitosan at refrigeration temperature (4 °C) with zip-bag packaging had a greater positive effect on fruit shelf-life, weight maintenance, and quality attributes than ambient temperature. Among the different coating concentrations, 1000 ppm chitosan solutions could provide better performance to extend the shelf-life of mango fruit while maintaining quality attributes. Altogether, our findings suggest that chitosan coating effectively prolongs the storage life of mango fruit and maintains fruit quality during storage, and offers promising potential for successful commercialization of this edible coating for mango growers and the industry
